About us: contra dance and our community
The Monterey Country Dance Community is an educational, non-profit charitable 501(c)3 corporation that is dedicated to the preservation, study, teaching, enjoyment, and continuing evolution of traditional and historical dance, music, and song —especially New England contra dance, but also other folk and popular musical and dance forms from a variety of ethnic and cultural traditions.
MCDC is a member of the Country Dance and Song Society, and operates under guidelines established by the Society.
We hold two dances per month, on the first and third Saturdays of most months from 7pm to 10pm (we always offer a beginners' orientation at 6:30), at the Monterey YMCA at 600 Camino el Estero in Monterey.
